It’s back to school season and that means it’s time to get back to studying. The Library has lots of great online resources to help you make the grade – and the best part is that it’s free! All you need is an Ajax Public Library card to get started on your learning journey.
Solaro:
One of our newest resources for students is Solaro. With Solaro, you can access Ontario curriculum content for grades 3 to 12. Log in with your Library card to study better with course-specific quizzes, lessons, and material review. You can also do assessments, try practice tests and more.
Mango Languages:
Mango Languages helps you learn a new language in an engaging and interactive way, with over 70 languages to explore! Pick a language, work your way through the lessons, and practice vocabulary. Mango also has a translate feature, and fun fact – you can even learn Pirate and Shakespearean English!
Canadiana:
Canadiana is a searchable catalogue of over 60 million documents held in Canada's libraries, museums, and archives. Browse government publications, maps, newspapers, and more. Perfect for history projects!
Explora:
Research your next project or paper with Explora. Access age-appropriate content from the world's leading magazines and reference books. Explore topics such as social science, arts and music, life skills, and more.
Learning Express:
Find academic and professional skill-building lessons, career preparation information, and learning resources for students of all ages. You can also access Citizenship and college admissions test preparation resources such as practice exams.
Learning doesn’t only happen online! If you’re looking for a space to study by yourself or with a group, look no further than our three branches. At Main Branch, you can book a Mutebox – a quiet enclosed space that features a table, stool, and power outlets. Audley Branch has four bookable study rooms that include dry erase boards for collaboration, and two of the rooms have ClickShare screens available for presenting/sharing. McLean Branch has a general study area with desks and chairs that can be used whenever the branch is open, no booking required.
Finally, have you been to the Makerspace at McLean Branch yet? It has everything you need to add creative touches and flair to your school projects. Use our binding equipment to make a professional report, print a poster on our large format printer, or create digital art on the Wacom Intuos Pro Drawing Tablet. From serious study time to a space to explore your creativity, the Library has you covered for back to school!
