Ajax Reading Circle Volunteers (September 2024-May 2025)

The Library is seeking enthusiastic, outgoing, and committed high school students to volunteer 4 to 6 hours per month on Saturdays throughout the school year to run the Ajax Reading Circle program with school-aged children. Please note: Students must be starting in Grade 9 or older in September 2024 to volunteer. There are approximately 20-25 volunteer positions available.

Interviews will be conducted during the below time slots. Successful applicants will be required to attend training on September 14, 2024, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Audley Branch.

  • August 21, 2024, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. (Main Branch)
  • August 24, 2024, from 10 a.m. – 12:00 noon (Main Branch)

Book Review Program

If you love to read, then this is the perfect way for you to get some volunteer hours! We are looking for readers to do some book photography, write reviews, and take part in reading programs throughout the year. 

Mandatory training will take place on September 14, 2024, from 2:30-4 p.m.

Le Club Francais Volunteers

Support and run programming and activities for school-aged children and read with small groups of younger reading buddies in French! Must be able to read and communicate in French fluently at a minimum of a Grade 9 level. Le Club Francais runs Monday nights, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., September 30, 2024, to June 2, 2025. No programs occur in January, June, or on holidays.
