The Library is pleased to welcome Knitting and Crochet for Community, a group formed to connect charity knitters and crocheters, yarn, and tools with volunteers who make items with love for those who may need them (such as seniors or low-income, ill, or homeless children and adults). The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month. New members welcome.

Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Month Event

Appropriate for adults, children are welcome.

Advance registration and walk-ins welcome.
Doors open at 6 p.m., presentations will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Honour Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Awareness Month with a story from a survivor and an educational session on the prevalence of IPV. Learn about the community supports available for those affected and engage with community partners at information tables. Light refreshments will be provided, as well as a children’s activity corner.

Nightstop Information Session

Attend an information session to learn about Nightstop, an alternative to shelter that adopts a preventative approach to homelessness to help youth secure safe temporary housing, avoiding the shelter system or sleeping “rough” on the streets. Nightstop engages community members with space in their homes and hearts to support youth who pass a thorough risk assessment by hosting them for a few nights in a safe home, with the support of Durham Youth Services staff.
