WiFi and Wireless Printing

The Library provides customers with free internet access in all Library locations. Connect to a wireless network through your device settings, accept the use policy, and start surfing. 

Printing from your wireless devices is available in all Library locations. Email print@printbyxerox.com and follow the instructions in the return email. Prints can be picked up from any Library location. Regular printing fees apply (see below). 

Computer Access

Every Library branch offers public computer stations, with the following software/programs available. 

• Windows 10 operating system
• Internet browsers (ex. Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
• Adobe Reader (for PDFs)
• Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 

Your privacy and information security are important to us. All files and use history are removed/erased when the computer station is restarted. 

Main Branch also offers an Accessible Computer Station, with accessible software, and other assistive devices. See our Accessibility Services page, or speak with staff in branch for more information or further assistance. 

Printing, Photocopying, Scanning, and Faxing

All Library locations offer the following services. Please note there is a small fee associated with printing and photocopying:

• Black and white printing/copying ($0.20 per page);
• Colour printing/copying ($0.50 per page);
• Document scanning to USB;
• Fax services.

Mobile Hotspots

Borrow a mobile hotspot from the Library and get free access to the internet where you need it most! Thanks to the New Horizons for Seniors Program, Ajax Public Library is excited to provide technology that enables wireless internet access to our customers! Mobile Hotspots provide WiFi for smartphones, tablets, and computers through Rogers’ cellular network. 

How to Borrow: 

1. Place a hold on "Mobile Hotspot" in the Library's catalogue.
2. Pick-up your hotspot at the Library when it is available for you. 
3. Enjoy internet wherever you go!
4. Mobile Hotspots may be loaned for up to 21 days. The device may be deactivated if it becomes overdue or lost.

Mobile Hotspot: Terms of Use and Conditions

1. By borrowing the Mobile Hotspot (Device), I understand and agree with the Ajax Public Library (Library)’s Terms of Use and Conditions outlined below:
2. My account is in good standing with the Library.
3. Library is not responsible for any liability, damages, or expense resulting from use, or misuse, of the Device; connection of the Device to other electronic devices; or data loss resulting from use of the Device.
4. I am responsible to return Device in good condition.
5. I or my parent/guardian am responsible to pay for the replacement fee if the Device or peripheral was returned damaged or stopped working.
6. Use of the Device is subject to the Library’s Internet Access Policy.
7. The service is available in Canada within the Roger’s cellular network. International service is not available.
8. The Device will provide Internet access to Wi-Fi enabled smartphones, tablets, and computers.  
9. The connection is 3G or 4G/LTE depending on the availability of the area.
10. Library does not monitor or store any data related to users’ Internet activity.
11. The Device may be deactivated if it becomes overdue or lost.
12. Device should be kept in a temperature controlled environment. Do not leave in vehicle.

GoPro Kit: Borrowing, Returning & Terms of Use

Start filming like the pro with the GoPro Camera Kit at Ajax Public Library!

Each kit includes:

• GoPro Hero11 Black
• Memory card
• Accessories kit (please see detailed Inventory List included in Kit)

GoPro Hero11 features include 5.3K video at 60FPS, Hypersmooth 5.0 Video Stabilization, 27MP Photos, 10-Bit Colour, and Night Modes. Devices are waterproof up to 33 feet.

GoPro Hero 11 has Bluetooth-enabled cloud sharing as well as manual transfer abilities through provided memory card.

Borrowing and Returning

1)    Customers may borrow GoPros for up to 21 days.
2)    If GoPro Kit is not on hold, customers may request a renewal.
3)    Return the GoPro Camera Set to any Ajax Public Library branch service desk. Do not place in the book drop box.

GoPro: Terms of Use and Conditions

By borrowing a GoPro (Device), I understand and agree with the Ajax Public Library (the Library) Terms of Use and Conditions outlined below:

1)    I will ensure use of the GoPro abides by all applicable laws and Library policies including the Library’s Internet Access Policy, the Photography and Video in the Library Policy, and the Acceptable Behaviour Policy.
2)    I will delete my data from the memory card(s) before returning the Device to the Library.
3)    I or my parent/guardian am responsible for returning the Device in good condition via the service desk. I understand the GoPro will not be removed from my card until staff confirm all the pieces are included and in good condition.
4)    I am responsible to pay for the replacement fee(s) (see below) if the Device or any peripheral was returned damaged or missing.
5)    The Library reserves the right to access data on all GoPros and delete any remaining data on the memory card upon return. Library staff may briefly view, but will not store or save any content on SD card. Any unlawful content will be reported to the authorities (Durham Regional Police Service).
